Our ongoing goal is to provide you with the leadership resources needed in today's increasingly competitive and uncertain marketplace. CEOs are being thrust into the global spotlight, with leadership now being re-examined and re-defined in challenging yet inspiring new ways. Consider the following:
  1. CEO departures have doubled in 2005, with 1,228 departures recorded from the beginning of 2005 through November, up 102 percent from the same period in 2004. (Challenger, Gray & Christmas, December 13, 2005)

  2. CEOs today come from a variety of backgrounds, with a growing number rising from humble beginnings and fewer having attended Ivy League colleges. In 1980, about 23 percent of chief executives at big companies attended one of the eight Ivy League colleges while in 2005 the number decreased to 10 percent. (Source: New York Times, November 27, 2005)

  3. 65% of CEOs are actively involved in developing leadership talent. (Hewitt Associates, U.S. Top Companies for Leaders 2005 Study)

  4. In 2005, there were 129 FORTUNE 1000 U.S. CEO changes. This is a 126 percent increase in turnover since 2000. (Note: Departures are counted when a Fortune 500/1000 company announces a new CEO. Source: Burson-Marsteller)
